80’s Rockers For Japan Benefit
My good friend Terry Ilous put on quite the benefit! I always knew he was a good person (and a smart, cute and talented musician) but turns out Terry’s capable of much more! Like many of us, he was heartbroken over the devastation in Japan. But Terry decided to do something! He set up a series of concerts benefiting the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief efforts. Members of some of the ’80s most popular rock and metal bands joined his effort and performed. For a mere $10 donation at the door, we witnessed an epic event of musicians, coming together, jamming for a good cause. There’s nothing like seeing your favorite rocker up close, on stage, doing what we love best. The song selection and performances were amazing!
Many, many others also contributed their time to the cause. But my particular favorite was Al Bane who whipped up these amazing Red Cross patches – and brought his sewing machine to the event and was sewing them on right there!
Is there anything cooler than a leather patch specially made for such a great cause! Al also created an amazing leather jacket featuring ….. The jacket was signed by Vinnie Appice, Terry Ilous, Mandy Lion, Robin Mcauley, Bobby Kimball, Simon Wright, Robbie Crane, Rudy Sarzo, Mike Duda, Chris Holmes, Dilana Robichaux, Taime Down, Paul Shortino, Rob Harper, the guys from Steel Panther hell, a ton more, even Dane Cook! This jacket will be auctioned and all the proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief efforts!
The Japanese have always been great supporters of rock and it warmed my heart that so many people came out to support them.
